DevOps Engineer
DevOps / Site Reliability Engineer (Digital Audio)
Make radio proud at cloud scale.
We’re Bauer Media Audio, home to some of Europe’s most loved audio brands. We’re looking for a DevOps/SRE who keeps systems calm under pressure, shortens the path from code to customer, and helps our teams ship reliably (and sleep better). You’ll be the heartbeat behind the uptime, performance and security of our Digital Audio platform—while coaching product and engineering teams in modern DevOps practices.
Why this role matters
Millions press play on us every day. Your mission is to keep it instant, secure and smooth—maintaining high availability, hardening our cloud, and helping peers build fast, resilient delivery pipelines. Think “you build it, you run it” done well, with great tooling and even better collaboration.
What you’ll get stuck into
- Own the reliability of our Digital Audio systems: troubleshoot service incidents, tune performance, and keep our platform healthy and available.
- Build, test and upgrade infrastructure; support releases; evaluate patches; and recommend pragmatic improvements to how we run.
- Partner with product & tech in roadmap, refinement and epic breakdown—bringing clear technical guidance so we deliver value that actually lands.
- Lead by influence: level-up teams in DevOps methods and tools, reduce technical debt, and champion security, resilience and cost awareness.
You’ll actively support our “you build it, you run it” ethos, including participation in an on-call rota for in-hours and out-of-hours incidents.
The toolkit you’ll touch
- AWS: Lambda, API Gateway, EKS; applying Well-Architected principles and watching costs.
- Containers & Orchestration: Docker/Podman, Kubernetes.
- CI/CD: Jenkins, Argo CD, GitHub Actions.
- Observability: Elastic, Prometheus, Dynatrace, Grafana.
- IaC & Scripting: Terraform, plus bash/Go/Python on Linux (CentOS/Fedora/Ubuntu/AMI2).
What makes you a great fit
- Proven in DevOps/SRE with production ownership and incident response; calm, clear comms when things get spicy.
- Strong problem-solver who can go forensic when needed; security-minded with practical mitigation habits.
- Comfortable guiding teams, simplifying complexity, and aligning technical decisions to business outcomes.
- Organised, adaptable, and collaborative across product, engineering, security and architecture.
Nice to have: experience in audio/streaming environments and operating within a 24×7 rota. Degree or equivalent experience welcome—we care about impact.
How we work
Collaboration first: open lines between product, delivery, engineering and security to make smart, timely decisions.
Customer value, always: development aligned to market needs across devices and countries.
Continuous improvement: we reduce technical debt while protecting scalability, resilience and security.
Location & flexibility
Permanent, full-time, remote within the UK (hybrid optional). Role includes participation in incident support rotas (in-hours and out-of-hours).
The impact you’ll see in your first 6 months
- Faster, safer deploys across key services.
- Clear, actionable reliability metrics and dashboards.
- Fewer repeat incidents; sharper incident comms and post-mortems.
- Happier teams shipping with confidence.
