About the Role

 

The Digital Audio & Broadcast Manager is a management role dedicated to driving and delivering the digital audio strategy for Bauer Media Audio Ireland’s broadcast radio business. This role focuses on realising digital transformation across Ireland’s biggest commercial radio group; working in collaboration with Digital Director. 

 

The most significant element of this role will be to work in conjunction with Managing Editors and key stakeholders across the Bauer Media Ireland radio group in the development and roll out of digital audio products to enhance listener experiences and business performance.  

 

This role will also have oversight of GoLoud listening app ensure its successful rollout and growth.  The successful candidate will have a passion for the broadcast radio industry, experience of the digital audio market, and consumer needs, ensuring the seamless evolution of audio offerings in a digital-first landscape. This role is ideal for a creative and innovative lead who is passionate about shaping the future of audio in the digital age while leveraging the rich heritage of broadcast radio.  

 

Key Responsibilities  

  • Working with Director of Digital and management teams across radio group to realise Bauer’s key strategic objectives to be best audio digital player in the market, entertaining and engaging our audiences in our own ecosystem and beyond,  and creating products that enhance revenue streams. 
  • Key liaison between Digital team and editorial leadership across Bauer Media Audio Ireland radio stations as well as working with marketing and product teams to implement and deliver the strategy for digital audio products. This would include but not limited to the development and optimisation of GoLoud app, podcasts, streams, DAB, websites, and CRM strategy etc. The ideal candidate would empower radio teams by providing guidance on best practices and learnings from the wider Digital Team, work with editorial management and Digital Director to help to formulate editorial responses to these products ie  podcasts, streams and curation, and ensure strategy is executed with strong project management skills. 
  • Act as a digital ambassador within the group; communicating trends, data, best practice and innovations to senior leadership, editorial, commercial and marketing teams. 
  • Foster a culture of creativity, collaboration and innovation around digital products. The ideal candidate would work with different radio stations to identify potential products for them to adopt and encourage them to develop output unique to that station. 
  • Work with Digital Team to leverage emerging technologies, such as AI-powered content production assistance and transcription to improve content production and distribution across the radio group.   
  • Critically review digital products and listener behaviour to help aid management and editorial teams to make data-driven decisions around content production, platform enhancements, and audience acquisition efforts.  
  • Measure and track the rollout of digital products and strategy across the group providing feedback to senior management. 
  • Work with Data Teams to analyse data and develope strategies to attract, entertain and retain audiences across multiple digital platforms while maintaining brand consistency. 
  • Ensure digital audio products meet the needs of advertisers, listeners, and other key stakeholders.  
  • Partner with commercial and product teams to create and implement innovative ad formats and sponsorship opportunities tailored to digital audio platforms.  
  • Stay ahead of trends in the digital audio and broadcast radio industries, including listener habits, platform innovations, and regulatory developments. 

 

What you will have:

  • 5+ years of experience in digital audio, digital product management, or the broadcast media industry, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.  
  • Deep understanding and passion for broadcast radio and its transition to digital formats.  
  • Strong communication and project management skills with the ability to inspire and motivate teams, and get buy-in from various stakeholders across senior management.  
  • Deep knowledge of digital audio platforms and technologies, end-to-end content creation, and techniques to increase audience engagement.  
  • Proven success in managing digital audio products and platforms.  
  • Creative thinker with a passion for creating content and products to attract, engage and retain diverse audiences. Broadcast radio expertise is essential. Podcasting experience is desirable.  
  • Familiarity with audience research, data and analytics tools.  
  • Understanding of the digital audio market and associated commercial models.  
  • Analytical mindset with a focus on problem-solving and delivering results.  
  • Adaptable and forward-thinking, with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced industry.
