The Difference You Will Make
As a Senior Reporter for Glasgow and the West, you will be at the heart of breaking stories, producing compelling journalism across audio, video, and digital platforms. In this role, you’ll bring your sharp news instinct, creativity, and hunger to be first on scene. You’ll help lead our local news coverage, ensuring Clyde 1 and Greatest Hits Radio remain trusted voices for listeners.
Your Role
You will focus on producing compelling local stories, both on air and online, and supporting the wider news operation as required.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Producing compelling local stories for bulletins, online and social platforms.
- Attending breaking news stories; producing high quality audio, video, images and written updates.
- Creating multimedia content.
- Reading news bulletins to a high broadcast standard when required.
- Updating digital content in line with legal and editorial standards.
- Reacting quickly and calmly under pressure during fast‑moving news events.
- News happens at any time of day or night, seven days a week so flexibility is expected in order to react to major stories outside of normal working hours.
The Skills You Will Bring
Required
- Recognised journalism qualification (degree or postgraduate).
- Full driving licence — essential for attending breaking news.
- Strong multimedia skills: video, audio, photography, writing.
- Prior experience in multimedia journalism – reporting live.
- Ability to work highly flexibly — this is not a 9–5 role.
- Passionate consumer of news.
- Strong communication, attitude and enthusiasm for the job.
Desired
- Familiarity with Glasgow / West Scotland news landscape.
Working Pattern / Location
This role is full‑time and office‑based in Glasgow. You must live on patch to respond quickly to breaking news. Occasional weekend work may be required depending on rota demands.
