Legal Counsel, Employment Law (International) (m/f/d)

About Us:

Bauer Media Group is a leading media company in Europe, reaching more than 200 million people in 12 countries with its print and online publications, as well as a variety of radio stations and audio products.

In our Group Legal department, we support the company with commitment and foresight in all legal matters and contribute to the strategic direction of the business. We work together to find solutions. Our philosophy: We enable.

For our team at the Hamburg office, we are looking for a new member for an international role as Legal Counsel in employment law, who is enthusiastic and committed to working at eye level with the business for the success of the company.

In addition to your excellent legal skills, it is particularly important to us that you fit into our team with your personality. You should also have the desire to familiarise yourself with new areas of (international) employment law and to think outside the purely legal box.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Employment Law advice on the creation and implementation of group-wide HR strategies (including review and harmonisation of policies, elaboration and adaptation of reward schemes, global mobility and organisational design)
  • Supporting HR business partners on employment law matters in international projects, reorganisations and global (HR) initiatives
  • Support on individual employment law matters related to top executives
  • Employment law advice on and implementation of M&A transactions including harmonisation of group-wide working conditions
  • Supporting the business in analysing and evaluating (international) employment law issues related to new business initiatives
  • Reviewing, drafting, and negotiating international contracts in an employment law context in close coordination with the business
  • Coordination of external law firms from various jurisdictions

Your Profile:

  • You completed your state exams with above-average results.
  • You gained first experience (2-3 years) in employment and labour law, ideally with international exposure, either in-house or at a law firm.
  • You feel not only comfortable in the legal world, but you are also interested in corporate strategies and can actively support their implementation with your expertise.
  • You have excellent analytical skills and can convey complex matters clearly in both German and English.
  • You are a communicative and confident person who is highly motivated to work in a mutually supportive team and celebrate successes together.
  • You are eager to develop yourself and your skills to meet the demands of a dynamic working environment.
  • You are fluent in English and German.

What You Can Expect in Our Team:

  • A motivated and collegial team that values collaboration, creativity, and an enjoyable working environment.
  • The opportunity to get involved in a wide range of employment law issues in an international context.
  • Flat hierarchies and short decision-making paths: Our Chief Legal Officer leads the Group Legal department and, as a member of the Executive Board, also oversees the HR function. Therefore, we are immediately and closely involved in all relevant matters with respect to employment law.
  • Continuous professional development opportunities through training, workshops, conferences, e-learning, and more to support your personal and professional growth.

We also offer:

  • Central location in Hamburg's city centre, subsidy for the ‘Deutschland-Card’, company restaurant, magazine subscriptions, company events, health days and other discounts via corporate benefits
  • Flexible working opportunities with the option for mobile working so that you can optimise your work-life balance

If you would like to become part of our team, we look forward to receiving your meaningful application (including CV and references). Your contact person for this role is Surachana Griffiths. We look forward to getting to know you.

We are an international employer and equal opportunities are important to us. That's why we welcome everyone in their uniqueness, regardless of e.g. religion, gender, skin color, disability in our house.
