Senior Strategic Communications Lead

This key role within Publishing Communications works with the Publishing Communications Director to strategically develop, embed and monitor global corporate communications to a high professional standard, delivered both through relevant global channels and locally via the country communications teams. While the key focus of this role is on external and change communication, significant expertise in internal communications is essential.

This is a full-time hybrid position based in London or Peterborough or Hamburg, offering the flexibility to work both from home and from our office as needed.

What you will do

 

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive global external communications plan aligned with Publishing’s strategic goals
  • Define and lead our narrative development, external positioning strategy, identifying key industry trends to proactively promote Publishing as an opinion leader across select topics
  • Manage media engagement, build strong external relationships, and craft compelling messaging aligned with our strategy
  • Lead communications for large-scale transformation initiatives across Publishing
  • Ensure internal and external messaging is aligned across all countries and formats and channels are reviewed for their effectiveness regularly
  • Work with the Publishing Communications Director to build leadership communications capabilities to ensure key messages are effectively cascaded through all levels of the organization as well as externally
  • Act as deputy to the Director of Publishing Communications, providing strategic counsel and support as needed
  • Inspire and develop one direct report

 

What you will bring

 

  • Several years of experience in a comparable global leadership role in corporate communications
  • Successful delivery of proactive external communication and corporate reputation strategies
  • Demonstrated success in leading and developing strategic communication planning and managing communications for large-scale, global transformation and change initiatives
  • Skilled in building and scaling communication systems, including effective cascade networks
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to measure communication KPIs and adjust strategies accordingly
  • Confident in working with senior stakeholders and acting as a trusted advisor
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills in English
  • A collaborative mindset with proven team leadership experience
