Acting Features Editor, Grazia
The focus of your role:
We’re looking for a dynamic and experienced Acting Features Editor to oversee our smart, conversation-starting features content across print, digital and social. This is an exciting opportunity to join a creative team with ambitious plans!
Please note this is a fixed term contract covering maternity leave.
What you’ll do:
- Oversee the main features section in the magazine – in addition to features slots in 10 Hot Stories and regular pages including Life Skills and The View – and manage all features forward planning.
- Generate timely, original ideas that deliver compelling coverlines. This encompasses zeitgeisty trend pieces, international news, in-depth reports into the issues that matter, emotive first-person essays, topical talking points hooked on social media and pop culture moments, and relatable features that speak to the concerns of the Grazia reader across wellbeing, politics, relationships, work and money.
- Commission a diverse range of writers, including sought-after names, and expand our pool of contributors. Provide detailed briefs and edit copy to a high standard and tight deadlines.
- Secure exclusive interviews with politicians, authors, broadcasters, and other high-profile individuals.
- Organise monthly features meetings for print, plus regular visuals meetings with the Art & Picture teams.
- Contribute ideas for our daily news conference, including traffic-driving digital stories, engaging social media posts, content for our parenting platform The Juggle, and enticing longs reads for our Apple News+ channel.
- Commission and edit online copy as part of a rota with other senior editors, ensuring stories are optimised for search, legally sound, and in the Grazia tone.
- Manage the Staff Writer, developing their skills and prioritising their workload.
What you’ll bring:
- Proven experience running a features desk or editorial section for a national publication.
- A thorough understanding of the Grazia reader and brand, and an enthusiasm for the wide range of topics we cover.
- Excellent editing skills and a highly organised approach to multiple demands and deadlines.
- A collaborative mind set and the confidence to problem solve under pressure.
Closing Date: Sunday 19th January
