The Difference You Will Make 

 

As an Audiovisual Technical Manager, reporting to the Head of Production - Podcasts, you will play a pivotal role in shooting, editing and delivering high-impact visualised podcast content end-to-end in a hands-on capacity, in a fun 360-first environment. 

 

Your Role 

 

We’re looking for Audiovisual Technical Managers to deliver the technical realisation of our visualised podcasts, with some audio-only, bonus content and marketing assets included. This role demands technical brilliance (shooting & editing of content), management of the studio environment, some platform delivery, good problem-solving skills and the ability to work positively in a fast-paced, cross-functional team. You will play a key role in delivering industry-leading content that pushes our portfolio to new heights. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone interested in podcasts and digital content, and looking to step up into managing people as the department grows over time. 

 

Responsibilities 

 

Responsibilities include but not limited to: 

 

  • Manage technical capture of audio and visuals for podcasts, plus branded segments and branded episodes, where applicable. 
  • Hands-on camera operation and sound recording, plus lighting for shoots, set up and pack down of sets, studio management, DIT, technical QC of content. 
  • Deliver technical requirements against the editorial direction and agreed tone of shows with Executive Producers, Podcast Content Producers and Designers, developing and updating visual and technical playbooks. 
  • Supervising freelance camera operators and technicians on set, where needed, supporting the induction of new staff or freelance operators (not including contracting or IR35). The role may include line management as department grows. 
  • Editing of long-form video where required to support self-editing Podcast Content Producers, plus editing of some short form elements (trailers, teasers, promo/marketing content), ensuring high-quality editing, mixing, grading and delivery of final versions. 
  • Asset delivery and publication of episodes to deadlines across video platforms, and where needed as back up, audio platforms. 
  • Working with Head of Production to implement new technical workflows and solutions, futureproofing our production engine. 
  • Management of kit lists and kit maintenance, organising PAT testing where necessary. 
  • Supporting safety on shoots, including manual handling, collaborating on risk assessments to keep productions safe. 

 

The Skills You Will Bring 

 

Essential: 

 

  • Excellent technical proficiency and track record in audio and video production and editing, with good attention to detail, and proficiency of Adobe suite – Premiere essential. 
  • Good understanding of shot composition and lighting to create a range of styles, looks and atmospheres; familiarity with a range of cameras and lenses. 
  • Proficiency in colour grading. 
  • Positive with talent on set, and effective communication skills and a relationship-builder across a production team, working inclusively and equitably. 
  • Solutions-first problem solver with good attention to detail and a can-do attitude. 
  • Curiosity for new production technologies and kit. 
  • Thrives in fast-paced, multi-project environments while maintaining excellence. 
  • Passion for podcasts and visualised podcasts essential 
  • Growth mindset 

 

Advantageous: 

 

  • Studio and location experience. 
  • Understanding of safety requirements for shoots. 
  • Familiarity with podcast platforms such as YouTube and Spotify. 
  • Microsoft Office skills. 

 

Working Pattern / Location 

 

This is a full-time contract based in our London office. We work hybrid where possible, subject to production demands and shoots. Flexibility to work out of hours may be required occasionally. Some out-of-London travel may be required, with notice given.
