Project Manager: Strategic Commercial Project

Job purpose:     

 

Bauer Media Audio UK (BMA UK) is looking for an experienced Project Manager to support the implementation of several high impact, commercially focused strategic projects.  These projects include AI product development and commercial data modelling, both playing an important role in driving the company’s growth.  As the Project Manager: Strategic Commercial Projects, you will work closely with cross-functional teams, stakeholders, and senior management to ensure successful and timely project delivery.  This is a unique opportunity to work at the intersection of advertising sales, technology, and media strategy in the evolving world of radio and digital audio.

Bauer Media Audio reaches more than 20 million listeners each week.  We operate over 120 commercial, local, national and digital stations, including Absolute Radio, Magic Radio, KISS and the Hits Radio Brand Network; the biggest commercial network in the UK made up Hits Radio, Greatest Hits Radio and other iconic local brands. 

 

We continue to grow our podcast portfolio, which currently includes popular shows such as Olivia Atwood’s So Wrong it’s Right, Simon Mayo’s Confessions, and Sam Thompson & Pete Wicks: Staying Relevant. 

 

 

 

Key Accountabilities/Responsibilities 

  • Support the planning and delivery of strategic initiatives in commercially focused AI product development and data modelling  

  • Translate the initiatives’ strategic objectives into actionable project plans, outlining clear deliverables, milestones, and success metrics 

  • Coordinate and collaborate with cross-functional teams (both in and outside the UK), including sales, technology, data, finance and ad operations to ensure seamless execution of the initiatives 

  • Monitor project progress, ensuring all teams are aligned and deliverables are met on time 

  • Support the design and implementation of new or upgraded systems, tools, or processes  

  • Work with commercial teams to ensure the smooth integration of new products and systems with existing platforms and workflows 

  • Drive adoption of these systems across the sales teams, ensuring proper training and support 

  • Act as a key point of contact for senior executives and department heads throughout the projects’ lifecycle 

  • Organise stakeholder meetings, provide updates on project milestones, and gather feedback to ensure alignment with the company’s overarching strategy 

  • Prepare reports and presentations for senior leadership, offering insights into project progress, risks, and key performance indicators (KPIs) 

  • Identify and address potential risks or challenges that may impact the projects’ success, developing mitigation strategies to keep the initiative on track 

  • Troubleshoot operational and strategic issues as they arise, ensuring that project timelines and budgets are adhered to 

  • Establish KPIs and success metrics to evaluate the performance and effectiveness of the initiatives 

  • Track and report on revenue growth, operational efficiency, and ROI generated from the initiatives 

  • Provide post-implementation analysis, highlighting key learnings and recommendations for continued optimisation of initiatives 

  • Support the rollout of UK-led initiatives in other Bauer Media Audio markets, as required 

 

 

 

 

Knowledge (Education/Work Experience/Certifications) 

 

  • Strong project management background, with the ability to manage complex, multi-phase projects from conception to completion 

  • Experience working in – or a sound understanding of – the commercial radio, audio, or media & entertainment industries  

  • Strong financial acumen, with the ability to analyse and interpret revenue, sales and operational metrics 

  • Expertise in AI product development and / or data modelling in a commercial environment a strong advantage 

  • Familiarity with project management tools like Monday.com or Trello for tracking tasks, deadlines and resources 

  • Advanced knowledge of the Microsoft 365 suite - particularly MS PowerPoint and MS Excel 

  • Professional qualification in project management an advantage, but not essential 

  • Degree-level qualification

  • Experience in leading meetings, presenting project updates, and communicating clear goals to stakeholders 

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, capable of engaging with stakeholders at all levels, inc. senior leaders and executives 

  • Highly developed interpersonal skills, including the ability to build and manage influential and effective relationships with a wide network of colleagues and senior stakeholders
