Senior Change Communications Manager

Job Summary:   

The Senior Change and Communications Manager sits within the European-wide Audio Comms Team and is part of the Group-wide Communications function. Reporting into the Director of Communications, Bauer Media Audio, the role also line manages the Change Communications Executive. 

This is a strategic and hands-on role responsible for leading the planning, coordination, and delivery of internal communications that support Bauer Media Audio’s transformation programmes, operating model evolution, and strategic priorities. In addition to supporting large-scale change, the role also contributes to delivering business-as-usual (BAU) strategic communications — helping to keep colleagues aligned, informed, and engaged with the ongoing evolution of the business. 

The role holder will work closely with senior leaders, programme teams, support functions, and market-based colleagues to ensure communication is timely, engaging, and aligned with the wider vision of ‘Next Level Bauer’. They will translate complex business updates into clear, audience-focused messaging across multiple channels — helping colleagues feel informed, supported, and involved in the journey. 

The role will also take a lead on strategic external communications for Bauer Media Audio, with a particular focus on business and trade audiences. This includes supporting the development and delivery of a proactive comms strategy that builds industry visibility, strengthens brand positioning and leverages a range of channels and platforms — including media, events, thought leadership, and partnerships — to engage key external stakeholders. 

Success in this role requires strong planning capability, stakeholder engagement, and communication judgment. The post-holder will manage multiple workstreams and campaigns simultaneously, shaping long-term comms strategies while also delivering high-quality content and tactical outputs as needed. 

They will also play a key role in championing best practice, shaping the future of internal communications within Bauer Media Audio, and coaching and developing junior team members to grow the wider team’s capability. 

Your skills: 

Strong experience in change communications — with a track record of planning and delivering communications that support organisational transformation and cultural change. 

Robust communication planning skills — able to build and execute multi-phase campaigns, aligned to key milestones, stakeholder needs, and audience insight. 

Excellent stakeholder management — confident building relationships with senior leaders, navigating complexity, and influencing at all levels of the organisation. 

Clear and confident communicator — with excellent written and verbal English, and the ability to tailor messaging across multiple channels and formats. 

Strategic thinker with attention to detail — able to balance big-picture goals with hands-on delivery and execution. 

Team leadership — experience of managing or mentoring others, with a collaborative and empowering management style. 

Strong project management — able to juggle multiple workstreams and competing deadlines in a fast-paced environment. 

Experienced in external communications and media relations – skilled in building strong relationships with national and trade press, crafting compelling stories and securing high-impact coverage that enhances brand reputation  

Digitally confident — experienced in using modern internal communication platforms (e.g. SharePoint, intranet CMS, Microsoft 365, Viva Engage, email platforms, video tools). 

Proactive and solutions-focused — able to spot risks, solve problems, and find the right communication approach for each situation. 

Curious and audience-focused — always looking for ways to improve communication effectiveness and support the needs of colleagues across diverse roles and markets.

 

Key Responsibilities:

Develop and maintain structured communication plans for major change initiatives, and ongoing strategic priorities aligned to transformation milestones and business goals. 
Contribute to the planning and delivery of external communications for Bauer Media Audio, helping to shape messaging, develop content, build media relationships and secure coverage that supports business priorities 
Partner with senior leaders and programme sponsors to shape strategic messaging and ensure consistent narrative across markets and teams. 
Brief and coordinate with functional teams to deliver integrated communications that support change adoption. 
Oversee the creation and delivery of tailored content across Bauer Media Audio’s internal channels, ensuring messaging lands effectively with different employee groups. 
Manage the day-to-day delivery and prioritisation of internal communications, balancing long-term change plans with urgent business needs and ongoing strategic messaging. 
Lead the planning and content coordination for key events and moments (e.g. transformation updates, townhalls, leadership briefings, internal launches). 
Coach and guide the Change Communications Executive, reviewing outputs and providing clear direction to ensure quality, alignment, and learning. 
Champion the voice of the employee — building in mechanisms to surface feedback, concerns, and stories from across the business. 
Maintain an overview of risks and sensitivities related to change communications, escalating where needed and advising on mitigation strategies. 
Collaborate closely with the broader Audio Comms Team and Group Comms to ensure change and BAU messaging are integrated and aligned with wider comms activity

Required skills:

Proven experience planning and delivering internal change communications in a complex or fast-paced environment. 
Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills, demonstrated through working with senior leaders. 
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to distil complex information clearly. 

Desired skills:

A passion for the radio and audio sector. 
Understanding of organisational change and how communication supports adoption and engagement. 
Familiarity with change and engagement frameworks.
