About the Role 

 

Join Bauer Media Group as a Senior Government Affairs & Public Policy Manager supporting our Audio division — including radio broadcasting and digital audio.  You’ll be a key part of the Risk, Resilience and Responsibilities (RRR) function, helping deliver BMG’s government affairs strategy and ensuring our voice is heard across the UK, Europe, and the EU institutions. 

We’re searching for an individual with exceptional influencing skills, who can help us navigate the novel policy and regulatory issues that arise in a context of significant digital disruption, as radio listening continues to migrate from analogue to digital channels. You’ll advise on key policy and regulatory issues, manage external relationships and help support our business goals in a fast-changing media environment. This Brussels-based role covers Bauer’s UK and 8 EU audio markets as well as the EU institutions in Brussels.  

 

Location: Hybrid – Brussels based, Belgium 

 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Identify policy and regulatory issues that may affect BMG and assess the impact of these on BMG and its customers 
  • Bring external perspectives into BMG to shape internal understanding and direction 
  • Support the delivery of public policy campaigns aligned with BMG’s audio strategy, working closely with allied organisations and industries 
  • Draft high-quality submissions, briefings, and correspondence for senior stakeholders 
  • Represent BMG at external meetings, including with policy makers, trade associations, and think tanks 
  • Prepare briefing materials and support senior management in stakeholder engagement 
  • Help organise impactful public affairs events and collaborate with BMG’s communications team 

Skills & Experience: 

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in government affairs or public policy, ideally focusing on the media sector  
  • Strong understanding of relevant policy areas: copyright, AI, media law, digital regulation 
  • Experience engaging with (or working within) the EU institutions, governments, and regulatory bodies 
  • Degree (or advanced degree) in Law, Politics, Public Policy, or a related field 
  • Excellent communication skills in English (additional languages a plus) 
  • Strategic thinker with strong interpersonal and influencing skills 
  • Demonstrated resilience, adaptability, integrity, and curiosity
