Your role
As a Network Engineer, you’ll focus on supporting, maintaining, and improving our network infrastructure across multiple sites, technologies, and vendors.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Ensuring the availability of infrastructure and back‑office services
- Diagnosing and troubleshooting network issues, escalating when necessary
- Identifying and resolving performance bottlenecks
- Producing clear procedural documentation for IT teams and users
- Handling escalated customer/business issues
- Working collaboratively with other analysts, engineers, and project teams
- Contributing to both BAU activity and network-related projects
The Skills you will bring
Required:
- Excellent knowledge of Palo Alto firewalls
- Strong experience with Cisco hardware (Switches, Firewalls, Routers – Catalyst, Nexus, ISR, ASR, ASA)
- Deep experience with Cisco IOS, VLANs, EIGRP, OSPF, BGP in high‑availability environments
- Experience with Meraki or similar wireless technology
- Understanding of WAN technologies (e.g., point‑to‑point links, MPLS)
- Good understanding of VPN technologies (SSL, IPSEC)
- Familiarity with monitoring systems such as SolarWinds or Zabbix
- Knowledge of data centre processes including space and power management
- Experience with Zero Trust environments
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
- Strong customer service mindset and analytical approach
Working Pattern / Location
This is a full‑time, permanent position which can be based in Manchester or Peterborough on a hybrid basis.
