Broadcast Engineer – Belfast (Hybrid)

You’ll be joining a small but highly skilled engineering team supporting our Belfast broadcast operations – home to Cool FM, Downtown Radio, Greatest Hits Radio and Hits Radio. You’ll quickly feel part of a tight‑knit, collaborative group who rely on each other to keep our stations running smoothly. You’ll also work closely with our wider engineering teams across London and Scotland, who all use the same systems and share knowledge generously.

You’ll play a vital role in ensuring our stations stay on air and sound exceptional. Whether you’re resolving technical issues, supporting presenters in the studio, or helping deliver live outside broadcasts, you’ll be one of the key people the team turns to when something needs fixing – fast. 

 

With Bauer Northern Ireland moving into brand‑new purpose-built studios, this is a rare opportunity to work with modern equipment right from day one. You’ll also get hands‑on experience with exciting live events. 

 

Your role 

 

  • Responsibilities include but not limited to: 
  • Diagnosing and resolving studio and broadcast faults quickly. 
  • Supporting day‑to‑day operation of studio audio equipment. 
  • Maintaining and supporting digital playout/automation systems. 
  • Assisting video-over-IP and basic video workflows for online content. 
  • Supporting and delivering outside broadcasts and live events. 
  • Ensuring accurate documentation and contributing to technical resilience. 

 

The skills you will bring 

 

Must‑haves: 

 

  • Experience in broadcast engineering or a closely related audio environment. 
  • Strong hands‑on understanding of audio signal flow and studio equipment. 
  • Good IT literacy including Windows and basic networking. 
  • A calm and logical approach to problem‑solving. 

 

Nice‑to‑haves: 

 

  • Experience with Zetta or other playout systems. 
  • Audio‑over‑IP exposure (e.g., Axia). 
  • Outside broadcast experience. 
  • Radio broadcast background. 

 

Working Pattern / Location 

 

Hybrid role, primarily office‑based in Belfast. Standard office hours, with occasional requirement to work evenings and/or weekends. Permanent contract.
