Ad Production Controller

The focus of the role 

To manage the end-to-end production of advertising content from point of sale through to final delivery across print and social platforms. The role ensures all advertising materials are delivered accurately, on time, and to specification, while maintaining high standards of quality, compliance, and customer service. 

The Advertising Production Controller is responsible for coordinating advertising workflows across multiple brands and platforms. Working closely with sales, creative, media planning, and marketing teams, the role ensures smooth delivery of campaigns while balancing multiple deadlines. 

The role also supports the Senior Advertising Production Controller and Head of Ad Production and Project Management in maintaining production standards, improving processes, and ensuring efficient use of systems and tools. 

 

Main Responsibilities 


Campaign & Production Management 

  • Manage advertising campaigns from booking through to final delivery across print and digital channels 
  • Source creative assets from clients, ensuring adherence to specifications and deadlines 
  • Support advertisers in submitting artwork, promoting the use of automated delivery systems/portals 
  • Coordinate internally with design teams where creative build or amendments are required 
  • Build and update advertising layouts, including page creation within flatplanning systems and InDesign  


Quality Control & Compliance 

  • Proofread and check all advertising content for accuracy, visual quality, and technical compliance 
  • Manage colour reproduction and ensure artwork meets required print and digital standards
  • Approve advertising content in line with legal, ethical, and brand guidelines 
  • Escalate complex or high-risk content to senior team members where required  

 

Stakeholder & Customer Management

  • Act as a key point of contact for advertisers regarding artwork, proofs, and approvals 
  • Build strong relationships with internal teams including Sales, Sales Operations, Creative, Editorial, Marketing, and IT 
  • Liaise with Media Planning to ensure accurate placement of adverts within flatplans 
  • Support communication across teams to ensure campaigns are delivered seamlessly  

 

Workflow & Process Support 

  • Manage multiple deadlines simultaneously, ensuring all production schedules are met 
  • Support the Senior Advertising Production Controller in resolving production issues and workflow challenges 
  • Contribute to continuous improvement by identifying inefficiencies and supporting process optimisation 
  • Encourage adoption of new systems, tools, and automated workflows  

 

Team & Department Support 

  • Provide day-to-day support within the Advertising Production department 
  • Assist with handling queries, troubleshooting issues, and maintaining smooth operations 
  • Collaborate with colleagues to maintain a positive, high-performing team environment
