Assistant Financial Accountant

About the Role  

 

We’re looking for a detail-oriented Assistant Financial Accountant to join our Financial Accounting team within the Bauer Finance Hub (BFH), based in Peterborough. In this role, you’ll support the delivery of accurate statutory reporting for the Bauer UK group and ensure timely financial reporting to our German parent company.


You’ll collaborate with UK and overseas teams to reconcile intercompany balances, manage monthly payroll processing, and provide technical and system support. You’ll also have the opportunity to contribute to process improvement projects as part of BFH’s continuous drive for excellence.

 

Location: Peterborough, Hybrid (2 days in London office)

 

What you’ll be doing 

 

  • Prepare and process monthly payroll uploads for the UK Group in SAP S/4 HANAReconcile payroll control accounts and support payroll-related audit queries.
  • Assist with quarterly and annual reporting for UK and overseas entities using the group consolidation system.
  • Support the preparation of statutory accounts and iXBRL tagging for 13 UK entities and 2 joint ventures.
  • Reconcile intercompany accounts across UK and overseas Bauer companies.
  • Provide accounting support to overseas teams, including payroll processing.
  • Collaborate with and support the Junior Accountant, fostering a culture of shared learning.

Respond to ad-hoc queries and requests from across the business.

  

What you’ll bring 

 

  • Part-qualified accountant (ACCA / ACA / CIMA), actively studying.
  • Experience preparing financial statements under UK GAAP.
  • Familiarity with month-end processes including journal entries and balance sheet reviews.
  • Payroll processing experience is a plus.
  • SAP knowledge is beneficial but not essential.
  • Strong Excel skills and confidence working with large datasets.
  • A problem-solving mindset and a proactive approach.
  • Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • A collaborative, team-oriented attitude.
