Digital Reviews Writer, MCN

The Focus of the Role:

 

We’re after a competent, friendly and reliable motorcycling expert to manage the planning, quality and delivery of MCN’s online bike reviews and advice, regularly updating both sections in conjunction with the Digital Reviews Editor.

This role would suit someone who’s already a keen biker with an interest in writing and/or multimedia publishing. It’s not a road tester role, but the right applicant may find themselves riding for work, testing products or engaging in all manner of other motorcycling activities.

 

This role offers hybrid working, with a requirement of 2 days per week in our Peterborough office and the rest working from home.

 

About Our Team:

You’ll be joining an enthusiastic, welcoming team of bikers who love what they do, and furthermore you’ll be working for the iconic MCN – the biggest title in UK motorcycling.

 

Tasks & Responsibilities: 

Writes, updates and curates consumer content  

  • Be an expert used bike writer, supporting the Digital Reviews Editor with new review uploads as they arrive, updating several reviews per week, liaising closely with the SEO team to ensure quality and get content ideas. 
  • Create and curate riding tips, maintenance and other advice content for motorcyclenews.com – all to current best practices, and sometimes for international audiences. 
  • Become an expert in content creation and marketing methodologies, and work to spread these learnings to other teams within automotive and the wider Bauer Media business. 

Editorial Planning 

  • Become an expert in Monday.com and carry out all planning using this tool. 
  • Learn best practices that could work for other titles/markets. 

Representing MCN, Motorcycling and Bauer Media  

  • This role may have an element of exposure to the wider motorcycling industry, liaising with PRs, peers and others. There is an expectation that this duty will be always carried out responsibly and professionally. 
  • It’s possible this role may include travel and/or occasional out-of-office-hours work. 

What You’ll Bring: 

  • You have a passion to create content and ensure it serves a diverse audience. 
  • You know which trends are currently affecting the market, from riding tips to buying a used Honda Fireblade - you know what our readers want, have a good feel for the industry, have in-depth specialist knowledge and can also prepare complex content in an appealing and understandable way for our users. 
  • You will be willing to carry out training if required with the Bauer Academy. 
  • You have some SEO knowledge and know how to get texts to rank in search. 
  • You already have some experience in writing bike reviews and product tests and know how to best support and advise readers in their purchasing decisions. 
  • You are familiar with common content KPIs and can use them to evaluate the performance of your work. 
  • You have a collaborative mindset, can-do attitude with a willingness to get involved and a hunger to learn more. 
  • You are excellent at writing and other communication skills. 
  • You have an excellent time management as well as an understanding of prioritisation, are self-organised and have a hands-on mentality.
