Interim VAT Specialist

We’re looking for an Interim VAT Specialist to join our Finance team at our Peterborough office on a 12 month fixed term contract. 

As an Interim VAT Specialist you will be assisting the VAT accountant and Tax Director with the group’s VAT requirements, resolving ERP system issues and establishing best practice processes, controls and documentation. You will be helping to maintain our low risk BRR+ rating.

Our Team

Tax is an internal centre of expertise for all tax-related issues within Bauer Media, providing support at both a local and global level within the organisation. We support the business by ensuring that it is compliant with national and international tax requirements, is protected against tax-related risks and adds value by identifying local and group-wide opportunities for tax optimisation.

This is a hybrid role that supports a balance of working from home and our office in Peterborough

What you’ll be doing

• Support the VAT accountant with Bauer VAT requirements
• Historic review of VAT systems and controls, including:
  • Review of Bauer VAT treatment (inputs and outputs)
  • Consider any improvements for controls and processes
  • Review of VAT for standalone entity following M&A integration
• Shape Bauers future VAT position, including:
  • Update process notes to reflecting changes resulting from the new ERP (SAP S/4Hana)
  • Introduce appropriate testing requirements
• Validate processes, controls and documentation to ensue aligned to BRR+ low risk rating
• Support for SAP S/4Hana issues and resolving
• Review interaction with Concur expenses VAT and SAP S/4Hana

What you’ll bring

• Knowledge of the UK VAT system.
• Experience as a VAT assistant manager / manager or similar.
• Knowledge of SAP S/4Hana and SAC is preferred but not a requirement. 
• Experience communicating information clearly with a wide audience.
