Rail Account Manager - Mat Cover

As part of the RAIL portfolio sales team, you will play a key role in driving growth by managing an existing client portfolio while also actively hunting for new business opportunities. Selling across multiple platforms (print, digital, and events) you will be responsible for building lasting client relationships, developing a deep understanding of their objectives, and delivering compelling, insight-driven sales recommendations.  

 

Working to reach an individual sales target, you will be expected to create, deliver, and report against a clear sales plan. You’ll demonstrate accountability for performance, track progress against objectives, and share insights with the wider team to ensure continued success. 

 

Primary Responsibilities:

 

  • Manage and grow revenue from an existing client portfolio. 
  • Identify and convert new business opportunities across multiple sectors and platforms
  • Sell integrated solutions spanning print, digital, and events.
  • Develop a strong understanding of client goals to position solutions that deliver measurable value.
  • Build persuasive sales arguments and tailored proposals to secure new and repeat business.
  • Maintain up-to-date sales activity records in the CRM system.
  • Demonstrate a clear sales plan to maximise revenue and opportunities
  • Collaborate with internal teams (marketing, events, editorial, production) to deliver client success. 

 

Required Knowledge, Skills, Capabilities:  

 

  • Proven track record in face-to-face sales 
  • Demonstrative success in meeting targets 
  • High competence in effective questioning, listening, and brief-taking to fully understand client needs. 
  • Experience in selling both digital and event solutions, with the ability to create cross-platform proposals. 
  • Strong presentation, negotiation, and closing skills. 
  • Commercially astute, with the ability to build tailored recommendations that align with client objectives. 
  • Self-motivated, resilient, and results-driven, with excellent time management skills. 

This will be an 12-month MAT cover.
