This privacy notice informs you about the processing of your personal data within the Bauer Media Group Career Portal operated by Heinrich Bauer Verlag KG (HBV or we). The general purpose of this portal is to provide you with information about job offerings within the Bauer Media Group and give you a secure option to apply for jobs.
You can use the BMG Career Portal to search for job advertisements, create a user account, activate a messenger for new job advertisements or other job information (described under point 3) and you can apply for jobs and share your data with other group companies of the Bauer Media Group (described under point 4 and 5).

If you have decided to share your data with recruiters worldwide or in your country of residence and would like to know which companies they work for, you can find a list of the relevant companies here. The recruiters will contact you if they would like to offer you a job that matches your profile. In this case, they will send you a job advertisement mentioning the company in question that is responsible for processing the data within this application process.

2. VISIT THE CAREER PORTAL
2. AUTOMATICALLY COLLECTED LOG DATA
Each time you visit our Career Portal, the following browser information is automatically recorded in the log files of our web server:
- The IP address of the querying Web-enabled device
- The date and time of the access
- The name and URL of the retrieved file (in case a file was accessed/downloaded)
- The Web page/application from which the access was made (referrer URL)
- The browser you are using and, if necessary, the operating system of your Web-enabled computer
The collection of this data is necessary to ensure and optimize the operation and functionality of our website, to guarantee adequate data privacy and to be able to track possible cyber-attacks by third parties.
SAP infrastructure logs are retained for 90 days in an online format. After 90 days, they are archived to backup format. After 180 days, log data may be purged. All data for security reporting is kept for seven months (210 days).
The legal basis for the processing of your data is article 6 (1) f GDPR. Our legitimate interests arise from the purposes for collecting data listed above.
2.2 USE OF COOKIES
A cookie is a piece of data from a website that is stored within a web browser that the website can retrieve at a later time. Cookies are used to tell the server that users have returned to a particular website.
In general, we only set cookies, which are absolutely necessary to provide our Career Portal (hereinafter "necessary cookies"), on the basis of § 25 (2) TTDSG.
We set such necessary cookies without your consent. Insofar as personal data is concerned the processing is carried out in accordance with data protection law on the basis of our respective legitimate interest as set out in the CMP on the basis of Art 6 (1) f GDPR.
We also set cookies with your explicit consent on the basis of § 25 (1) TTDSG (Telecommunications and Telemedia Data Protection Act) and, insofar as personal data is processed, in accordance with data protection law on the basis of on Art 6 (1) a GDPR.
By clicking on “Cookie Consent Manager” at the bottom of each page you will be able to change your settings, or you can withdraw your consent by clicking the “Decline” button.

2.3 CREATE,USE AND DELETE AN ACCOUNT
Before you apply, we ask you to create an account in our portal. For this purpose, we ask in our registration form for personal information such as first name, last name, email address, and country of residence.
By registering and accept the Terms of Use you have created an account. The Privacy Notice is provided behind the link in the same box as the Terms of Use. After registering you have access to the space where you can add further information to your profile. Additional mandatory information we ask for is preferred phone number and city. Mandatory information is marked with an asterisk.
The Legal Basis of providing the BMG Career Portal for the purpose of managing your information for application processes is Art 6 (1) b GDPR in connection with the terms and conditions. In the case you store additional not mandatory information in the system, the legal basis is your consent (Art. 6 (1) a GDPR). You can edit and remove this information any time.
You have the possibility to delete your profile manually by logging into your candidate profile and clicking on “Options” and “Settings”. Once you are in the “Settings” section you can click on the “Delete Profile” button and confirm the deletion by clicking “Delete All Data” in the pop-up window.
After opting for manual deletion of your candidate profile, your applications will automatically be closed and your Personal Data will be anonymized immediately.
Your profile will also be deleted in case you withdraw the acceptance of the “Terms of Use”. This is done by accessing you profile, expanding the section “Search Options and Privacy”, clicking on the Data Privacy Statement link, clicking on the “Revoke” button in the pop-up window and confirming the withdrawal of your consent by clicking on “Delete all Data” in the additional pop-up window.
In case your application has been rejected, your profile will not be accessible for you anymore. In this case your data will be deleted after 6 months.
2.4 RECEIVE JOB POSTING NOTIFICATIONS
You have the option to receive job notifications based on the job title which you have applied for by checking “Receive new job posting notifications” when registering or by changing this setting in your profile. With this you will automatically be informed about job opportunities via email.
In addition, you may receive e-mail notifications based on the keywords you have entered in the search on the career site by saving a particular search and selecting the frequency for such notifications.
To receive newsletters from our recruiting teams you can tick the checkbox “Hear more about career opportunities” on account creation or in your existing candidate profile in section “Search Options and Privacy”.
The legal basis for these notifications is your consent according to article 6 (1) a GDPR.
3. APPLY FOR JOBS
When you apply for a job the files that you already uploaded under the tab “My Documents” will be used. You have also the opportunity to upload additional files by using the upload function.
Under the tab Job-Specific Information we ask you for additional mandatory information like your notice period, salary expectations, how you heard about the offer, your eligibility to work in the specific country and several other not mandatory information.
You can save the information as a draft and edit and review it any time, before submitting your application. The draft can be found in your profile under “Saved Application”. Once you have submitted your application you can find it in your profile under “Jobs Applied”. You have the option to withdraw the application in the same section at any time. Throughout the entire end-to-end recruiting process, all written communication will be managed and tracked via the Tool and you will be notified about updates via E-Mail.
Within the application process your data will be processed by the company you apply for.
In the case of applications for employment relationships governed by GDPR, the legal basis for the processing is the performance of pre-contractual measures at your request pursuant to Art. 6 (1) b GDPR or the processing of data in the context of an employment relationship pursuant to Art. 88 GDPR in conjunction with the applicable law of the member states.
The legal basis in the case of an application for a job under German law is Art 88 GDPR in conjunction with Section 26 (1) 1 BDSG. The legal basis in the case of an application for a job under Polish law is Art 88 GDPR in conjunction with Art. 22 sec.1 Polish Labour Code. In the case a picture or other voluntary data is provided, we deem that by providing voluntary data you consent on processing such data in accordance with Art. 6 (1) a GDPR. You acknowledge that the lack of consent referred above, or its later withdrawal shall not be the basis for unfavourable treatment of an applicant for employment, and may not cause any negative consequences to you, in particular, may not be a reason justifying the refusal of employment.”
If your application is successful and we enter into an employment relationship with you, your application data will be added to your personal file and stored for the purpose of carrying out the employment relationship on f the legal basis mentioned above.
In the event of an unsuccessful application, we will delete the associated data 180 days after the application process has been completed (unless you agree to be included in the applicant pool).
4. SHARE DATA WITH OTHER CONTROLLERS WITHING THE BAUER MEDIA GROUP
In the section “Make my profile visible to”, you can give your consent for the sharing of your profile beyond what is necessary for your job application.
In case you agree that your profile will be made available to all BMG recruiters around the world to contact you for jobs that match your profile, your personal information will be available for filling vacancies of all Bauer entities worldwide. Every recruiter who is involved in a recruitment process for vacancies worldwide will have access to your personal information and may contact you about relevant job opportunities.
In case you agree that your profile will be made available to all BMG recruiters in your country of residence to contact you for jobs that match your profile, your personal information will be available for filling open positions within the country of your residence. Every recruiter who is involved in a recruitment process for vacancies in this country will have access to your personal information and may contact you about relevant job opportunities.
The legal basis for sharing your profile with other recruiters in the group worldwide or in your region is your consent according to Art 6 (1) a GDPR. You give this consent by selecting the corresponding radio button under “Make my profile visible to” or “Candidate profile”/”Search Options and Privacy”.
5. RECIPIENTS OR CATEGORIES OF RECIPIENTS OF PERSONAL DATA
Your data is shared with the companies you apply for and you make your profile visible to (see section 4 and 5).

6. TRANSFER OF PERSONAL DATA TO THIRD COUNTRIES
The Bauer Media Group resides only in countries with an adequate level of data protection. These are countries where GDPR is applicable, or EU has issued an adequacy decision like UK.
The data is processed in the tool SuccessFactors by SAP. We have made sure, that neither SAP nor any SAP sub processor is able to access data from a country without adequate level of data protection
6. DATA SECURITY
We have taken the necessary technical and organizational measures to protect the personal data you provide against loss, destruction, manipulation and unauthorized access. HBV employees and all persons involved in data processing are obliged to comply with data protection laws and to handle personal data confidentially. Our employees are trained accordingly.
7. YOUR RIGHTS REGARDING PERSONAL DATA
You have the right
- to see which information, we hold about you in accordance with Art. 15 GDPR also known as “Subject Access Request”. In particular, you can request information about the processing purposes, the category of personal data, the categories of recipients to whom your data has been or will be disclosed, the planned storage period, the existence of a right to rectification, erasure, restriction of processing or objection, the existence of a right of complaint, the origin of your data if it was not collected by us, as well as the existence of automated decision-making, including profiling, and, if applicable, meaningful information about its details;
- pursuant to Art. 16 GDPR, to request the correction of incorrect or incomplete personal data stored by us without undue delay;
- pursuant to Art. 17 GDPR, to request the erasure of your personal data stored by us, unless the processing is necessary for the exercise of the right to freedom of expression and information, for compliance with a legal obligation, for reasons of public interest or for the establishment, exercise or defense of legal claims;
- pursuant to Art. 18 GDPR, to request the restriction of the processing of your personal data, insofar as the accuracy of the data is disputed by you, the processing is unlawful, but you object to its erasure and we no longer require the data, but you need it for the assertion, exercise or defense of legal claims or you have objected to the processing pursuant to Art. 21 GDPR;
- pursuant to Art. 20 GDPR, to receive your personal data that you have provided to us in a structured, common and machine-readable format or to request that it be transferred to another controller;
- in accordance with Art. 7 (3) GDPR, to revoke your consent once given to us at any time. This has the consequence that we may no longer continue the data processing, which was based on this consent, for the future; and
- complain to a supervisory authority in accordance with Art. 77 GDPR. As a rule, you can contact the supervisory authority of your usual place of residence or workplace or our company headquarters for this purpose.
9. CHANGE OF THE PRIVACY POLICY
New legal requirements, business decisions or technical developments may require changes to our privacy policy. The privacy policy will then be adjusted accordingly. The link in the “Terms of Use” of the career portal and the link “Privacy Notice” at the bottom of the website always leads to the current data protection declaration.
