About this role
In this role you serve as a critical bridge between the business and people, working directly with managers, our senior leadership team and workers council. The Job Holder will be part of an international People Leadership Team and in this role drive the internal business and People-Agenda for Publishing.
You describe yourself as a strategic partner, trusted guide, performance coach and change agent. As strategic partner and trusted guide you help our leaders as they lead their teams to achieving their business goals. You support them to develop solutions relating to business challenges. As performance coach and change agent you support managers and employees with the most relevant initiatives to succeed in their roles. The job holder is responsible for all HR-relevant topics in the area assigned to them. They support and advise managers, are responsible for the introduction and optimization of HR processes and programs and proactively promote employee satisfaction. In addition, the job holder will manage cross-national HR projects.
Key responsibilities:
- Provide strategic HR support to leaders of our Business Unit Publishing in Germany, while ensuring alignment of HR initiatives with business objectives
- Independently drive organizational change, improve processes and implement HR best practices in alignment with the business goals to increase efficiency and effectiveness
- Partner with senior management to provide solutions for all multifaceted people topics
- Understand the business strategy and challenges in order to align and translate overall People strategy to local business requirements,
- Deliver on key HR initiatives such as leadership development, performance and talent management,
- Coach our managers in a range of people skills to ensure we retain and develop our key talent,
- Identify training needs and introduce new training formats in close collaboration with our L&D department,
- Leverage the full potential of People Analytics data to drive change and proactively support your key stakeholders,
- Acts as a mediator in difficult individual personnel cases
- Creates and monitors HR-relevant KPIs
- Manages cross-country HR projects and participates in global HR initiatives
Team Leadership:
- Lead by example, motivating HR team members through clear vision, accountability, and encouragement
- Actively support the professional growth of HR staff, providing regular feedback, development opportunities, and career guidance
- Guide the team through organizational changes with clarity and empathy, ensuring resilience and adaptability
- Maintain open, honest, and transparent communication with the HR team, ensuring alignment on goals, policies, and priorities
Qualification/ Experience:
- University degree with a focus on economics, psychology or a comparable course of study, alternatively professional training with additional qualification
- At least 7-10 years of professional experience in HR business partnering, including disciplinary leadership responsibility
- Proven track record in independently planning, developing and implementing people projects (such as: performance management, employee engagement, Talent, change management) across the entire employee lifecycle
- Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously
- High degree of proactivity, solution orientation and implementation strength
- Business fluent verbally and written in English and German

- Ability to take ownership and act autonomously, but work effectively with the entire HR community in order to leverage on collaborative strengths
- Well-developed leadership skills
- An expert communicator with strong emotional intelligence
- Strong analytical skills, a good business sense and the ability to deliver hands-on and pragmatic solutions in a change environment
