Senior Data Engineer (f/m/d)
As our new Senior Data Engineer, you have an outsized impact on the organization: the effectiveness of the Data Platform enables a better understanding of our users, new products and data-driven decision making across the organization. As a member of cross-functional teams in different companies in central Europe, you will also power all new reporting, analytics and data product use cases.
This Position will be based in Hamburg or Berlin, with the opportunity of hybrid work.
Your Responsibilities:
- Participate in the design, development, and deployment of our Data Platform products
- Make sure that all Data Platform products are in good shape and provides support to the end-users
- Leverage the right tools and engineering practices to deliver testable, maintainable, and reliable data solutions
- Work closely with other team members on solving technical challenges and improving current processes
- With your colleagues in the agile teams, you will develop ideas and innovative approaches to solve current and future data challenges within the framework of the overall cloud strategy
- Collaborate and connect with other teams to jointly find a solution by emphasizing with other teams and offering solutions how things can be done, elevating conversations when needed
Your Profile:
- Strong communicator with familiarity working in virtual teams and agile/lean methodologies
- Good understanding of source control management and branching strategies
- Experience with one or more programming languages such as (but not limited to) Python, Scala or Java, along with associated data manipulation libraries
- Extensive experience around test driven development, dependency management, continuous integration and continuous delivery
- Extensive experience with build, test and deployment of complex data engineering pipelines, supporting ingest, transformation, workflow, serving and egress with proven experience using mainstream data engineering technologies
- Experience of middleware, such as Kafka or pub/sub, data integration and data streaming also an advantage (but not essential)
- Good experience of data serialisation formats, data modelling and data architecture
- Good understanding of data contracts and data quality, with experience of at least one data quality framework
- Good understanding of data governance, metadata management and data lineage
