Broadcast Principal Architect

Our Team: How We Enrich Everyday Life
Bauer Media Audio is Europe’s leading commercial audio broadcaster. We are on a journey to evolve the world of audio and continue to deliver for our audiences across Broadcast and Digital through sustained innovation across our entire product and technology estate. You’ll join a collaborative architecture practice working across Audio and the wider enterprise technology estate, partnering with product, commercial and platform teams across multiple markets.

The Difference You Will Make
As a Principal Architect, you will act as a senior technical leader responsible for shaping the architecture of our broadcast and commercial technology platforms and the integrations that connect them. Reporting to the Director of Architecture, you will combine strategic direction with hands-on involvement, acting as a trusted partner to leadership and key stakeholders while supporting the transformation of broadcast technology to the cloud and renewal of commercial platforms.

Your Role
You'll own the architecture vision for your area and provide both leadership and technical oversight across major initiatives. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Responsibilities

- Own and maintain architecture vision for broadcast, commercial platforms and integrations

- Provide oversight across programmes including cloud transformation and platform renewal

- Establish and apply architecture standards, patterns and principles

- Lead architectural reviews, technology assessments and decision-making

- Encourage reuse and consider lifecycle and total cost of ownership

- Lead and mentor solution architects

- Act as a trusted advisor to leadership, product and commercial teams

- Ensure alignment with security, legal, finance and infrastructure stakeholders

- Oversee integration design and data flows across core systems

- Guide technology adoption and remove ambiguity through strong solution design

- Balance strategic direction with delivery into production

The Skills You Will Bring

Essential:

- Strong technical background with architecture leadership experience

- Experience delivering architectural oversight across major programmes

- Experience in broadcast or media technology

- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills

- Ability to lead through influence and collaboration. Our markets retain real autonomy, so alignment is built collaboratively rather than directed, which takes patience as much as persuasion

Desirable:

- Hands-on cloud experience (ideally AWS)

- Knowledge of system integration or iPaaS tooling

- Experience with media asset management

- Experience in matrix or multi-market organisations

We don’t expect candidates to bring experience across all technology areas. Depth in one or two areas, alongside strong architecture foundations, is what matters. We encourage you to apply even if your experience doesn’t cover everything listed here.

Working Pattern & Location
Hybrid working twice a week in office, this role can be based out of Peterborough/London/Manchester.
